Okay I bought an ibanez SR300DX bass at a pawn shop. I've never played bass before and I'm wondering what the knobs on it control I've tried figuring but what I have seen of a manual on their page completely goes against what I thought they control. help me help me help me! please!? |

Re. bass notes. . . Check out "The Evolving Bassist" by Rufus Reid. Yeah, it leans more toward jazz players but boy will you learn your notes and then some. Tasha |

First off ur not an idiot. everybody has the same problem thier first time on any instrument. if u have a bass amp, then its fairly simple, pluck a string and see what happenes when you turn a nob. If u dont have an amp yet dthen dont worry about it untill u get one |

I have the same bass guitar from when I first started palying bass. its a really good one to learn on with a good sound to it. but anyway the the three larger one towards the back are for the sound/volume going through the pick ups (the bars behind the strings where you pluck them, to transfer the sound waves into the bass then to the amp. ) and the slightly smaller one in the bottom front row of the four nobs is for the bass boost. ( if the you have the fourth nob, some of them arn't equipt with it. but yours should be. ) I hope that answers your question. |

Usually the knobs on bass are volume and equilization. I dont know if your bass is a cheaper model but if it is it probably has a master volume (closest to you) and maybe a treble and then a bass tone knob. just like on a stratocaster. volume, treb, bass. if yours is more deluxe maybe you might have two volumes or even a mid-range control. it should be pretty easy to figure out which is the tone knob and which is the volume. but try going to ibanez's website. write them an email or something. Good luck |
