I would most certainly get a Fender, although (and I'm assuming this), if you're a girl with somewhat small hands, the Jazz Bass may be a better choice. Tasha |

I've been playing for 19yrs and I play a Fender Jazz bass. Simple electronics, nice tone. . . can't go wrong! Be prepared to spend about 400-500 for a non-American made Fender though, and you'll still need an amp. There are a lot of nice "middle-of-the-road" basses out there in that price range if you feel you'll stick with it, and the best way to find the right one is to go try them out and see which one feels the best. Jazz and Precision basses are fairly heavy, and may get uncomfortable for persons of smaller stature. Many moons ago I started on a cheap Hondo II bass, which was pretty much a copy of the Fender P-bass style. It played and sounded good, and was a great bass for learning on. In most music stores you can find startup kits marketed towards new players in your position, where you get the bass and a small practice amp packaged together for a decent price. This may be a route you can go, but be sure you get to play the bass before you buy the set. If they won't take it out of the box for you, find one on the rack of the same model and try it out. Some "economy" brands are: Squier, Cort, DeArmond, Epiphone |

It all depends on what feels comfortable to YOU. . . Not anyone else. . . For instance. . . Alot of people like fender,b. C. rich, etc. . . (and they are good basses). . But I dont like playing with them becasue the necks are to wide. . . I prefer ibanez(any kind) and the gibson thunderbird 4 reverse. . . Just because I like the smaller necks So its all up to u. . Just fool around with different ones. . And which ever feels comfortable to you. . Get it |
