Ear Taining: Scales training Scale program using Music Theory

When you are trying to play along with a band, a friend playing another instrument or just one of your favorite tracks on CD it is very helpfull if you actually know what chords and scale are used in the song.

To be able to hear what they are playing is extremely difficult when you are starting out, but when you start using a scales ear training program it becomes much easier.

To be able to hear the key of the song you have two options; listen to the chords used and figure out which scale they belong to, or listen to the solo instruments, melody and vocals to figure out the notes in the scale.

In this article we'll cover the last option because knowing all the chords in a scale is sometimes too much to ask.

To be able to do this you need to be able to:
- hear intervals
- remember the intervals you heard
- remember the notes you heard

The easiest way would be to hear a scale or melody line and just say what it is. Sounds simple but this is of course a very advanced level of hearing.

But to reach that level we start a little easier and break it up.
